Travel Bag
Saddleback Leather Company is a class act operation. The creator of this bag, Dave, lives in San Antonio, TX and he makes the best bag I have ever owned or seen in all my travels around the world. I've used this bag daily for over 5 years and I plan to have it my entire life. It operates as my daily tote and also my flight bag when I am working. Check out his website, buy his products and enjoy for a lifetime - you will not be disappointed. Dave's motto is, "They will fight over it when you are dead"...so true.
Camera
My constant travel companion - The Nikon D500 provides the serious life explorer with the highest quality compact and light weight DSLR option. This camera is for both the enthusiast and professional photographer. If you are a beginner, I recommend taking the online Fundamentals of Photography Class by John Greengo at Creativelive.com. In addition they have camera specific fast start guides that get you up to speed quickly on the use of your camera. The Nikon D500 course can be found here.
Webdesign
Squarespace is my choice for website design. This DIY source for designing your website is second to none. It takes a bit of practice and home study to figure our how to build your own site using their tools, but it is well worth the effort. They have great customer support, pricing and video tutorials to walk you though the process.
Packing Cubes
Packing cubes are a must have for both the experienced and novice traveler. I use Eagle Creek Packing Cubes and recommend bright colors to locate your cubes in a dark hotel room or tent. Pack compact, organized and clutter free. In addition, I have experienced less intrusion into my privacy by customs and airport security agents as they tend to treat cubes with more discretion - better then them spilling your contents out on the inspection table for everyone to see! I also highly recommend the ebag pack it flat toiletry kit. This baby is my favorite because it lays flat in your bag and complements the cube system perfectly.
Day Pack
REI Flash 22 day pack is my bag of choice for exploring a new city. It is light and compact empty so it can fit in the bottom of your suitcase easily. It can hold a everything you need for a day hike. I usually put my laptop, jacket and a water bottle. Not to big, not to small - Perfect!
